Screw-in thermometer with integrated head transmitter


By means of measuring transmitters, a precise signal adaptation of the temperature sensors can be realized. Transmitters are also referred to as transducers or amplifiers. They are available as external devices, such as DIN rail transmitters, or as integrated components in the sensor head, so-called head transmitters. EPHY-MESS offers for the product group of screw-in resistance thermometers mainly head transmitters as integrated sensor solution. They are particularly space-saving and do not have to be fixed or connected separately.


Integrated head transmitters from EPHY-MESS are offered for the LT24 and LT38 series. Transmitters are mainly used in environments where electrical or electromagnetic interference fields occur. The length of the connecting cable can also influence the measurement result, so that the use of transmitters can also be useful here, as they not only convert the signal but also amplify it. Thus, the signals can be transmitted loss-free over longer distances. Connected to an evaluation unit or control system, an action can be triggered when a maximum or minimum temperature value is reached, for example the triggering of an alarm or the switching on of a fan.

Functional principle

Transmitters are electronic components or devices that convert the output signal of the temperature sensor into a standardized analog signal (standard signal). The signals commonly used in measurement technology are 4...20 mA or 0...10 V. Temperature sensors usually provide an electrical voltage in the milli-volt range as an output signal and are therefore very susceptible to interference. The transmitter converts and amplifies the weak sensor signal and provides a stable current or voltage signal. This eliminates measurement errors and ensures interference-free transmission.
