51st International Physics Olympics (IPhO)

Honouring of the best Hessian Physics Olympians at the EPHY-MESS GmbH in Wiesbaden

For the 19th time, the employers' association of the metal and electrical companies HESSENMETALL honored the best Hessian participants of the International Physics Olympics (IPhO). This year's honouring took place at the member company of the district group Rhein-Main-Taunus e. V. EPHY-MESS Gesellschaft für Elektro-Physikalische Messgeräte mbH in Wiesbaden. The region Rhein-Main-Taunus was represented by five Physics Olympians: Elisabeth Seiffert and David Fabian Rahn from the Wöhlerschule in Frankfurt am Main, Jonas Spiller from the Humboldtschule in Bad Homburg v. d. Höhe, Daniel Samoylov from the Eichendorffschule in Kelkheim and Daniel Kopisitskiy from the Ziehenschule in Frankfurt am Main.

Dipl.-Kfm. Andreas Becker, CEO EPHY-MESS GmbH, congratulated the Hessian Physics Olympians on their successful participation. "We are pleased to give the young creative minds, who feel connected to physics and who enjoy solving tricky problems, an insight into our medium-sized company. We cannot start promoting young talent early enough. This is why we are involved in the International Physics Olympics, which promotes sporting competition in physics and offers the opportunity to compete with young people of the same age worldwide. Becker called on the young people to pass on the fun and enthusiasm for physics.

Dr. Thomas Brunn, Deputy Chairman of the Board of HESSENMETALL and Chairman of the Board of the Rhein-Main-Taunus e.V. district group, congratulated the students on their success: "Getting to the top here requires disciplined performance, the courage to compete and stamina. With these qualities and your proven talent for physics, you will be able to choose from a wide range of interesting training and study places, especially at our 624 member companies with 135,000 employees in the Hessian metal and electrical industry. This branch of industry is highly innovative, internationally positioned and offers very good working conditions as an attractive employer".

After the official part, a tour of the EPHY-MESS GmbH offered the opportunity to gain exciting insights into the working environment of trained physicists. Becker emphasized: "We are very pleased to welcome so many talented young people in our company. For more than 60 years we have been developing and producing customized industrial measurement and sensor technology. Each measuring task is performed under special operating conditions. Each temperature sensor has a specific installation situation. To develop, produce and to have available the individually optimal sensors, that is the strength of the EPHY-MESS". Becker explained that the customer base of EPHY-MESS includes companies from the railway industry, wind power and industrial applications. "At our location in Wiesbaden more than 165 employees strive each day to further expand our international leading position. To ensure that this will remain in the future, we are always in need of new inventions and improvements - that is why we are always looking for talented and committed people like you", Andreas Becker addressed to the young Physics Olympians.
