Presidium of the VDB repositioned itself in 2016

Volker Schenk elected as new President, Andreas Becker keeps the position of the Vice President for Medium-Sized Businesses.

The German Railway Industry Association represents the interests of over 180 companies and elected Volker Schenk as its president. Schenk is a Board Member at Vossloh and was Vice President Infrastructure in the last years. He is the successor of Dr. Martin Lange of Alstom Deutschland who resigned his mandate at the end of last year.

Apart from electing the President the Presidium of the VDB has repositioned itself. Siemens manageress Sabrina Soussan, CEO of the Business Unit High Speed and Commuter Rail, as well as Locomotives, has assumed the position of Vice President Vehicles. Dr. Henning Biebinger, Vice President Operations Main Line Systems Business Line of Thales Deutschland, is the new Vice President Infrastructure. Wolfram Schwab, Vice President Regional Platform of Alstom Transport, has reached into the Presidium of the VDB for Alstom.  Dr. Michael Bernhardt, CEO of Rail Power Systems, succeeds the resigned Werner Schmidt-Weiss.

In the future Dr. Rolf-Dieter Krächter will represent the interests of the small- and medium-sized businesses in the Presidium. Krächter is the spokesman of the Management Board of PINTSCH BAMAG Antriebs- und Verkehrstechnik. Andreas Becker, Managing Director of Ephy-Mess, keeps the position of the Vice President for Medium-Sized Businesses. He has been a member of the Presidium since 2012. The positions of Dr. Frank Gropengießer, Managing Director Rail of Voith Turbo, Dieter John, President Region Central / Eastern Europe and CIS at Bombardier Transportation, and Dr. Robert Wassmer, Chairman of the Executive Board of Knorr-Bremse Systeme für Schienenfahrzeuge, remain unchanged.
